The 6-screen South Sound Cinema opened on May 12, 1989. The Kipsap Sun reported on May 26, 1995, that owner Dave Fazende had added four new screens. By 1997 it was being referred to in the Sun as a Regal Cinema.

The Port Orchard Independent reported on March 12, 2008, that two employees were held up at a bank deposit box while depositing the nightly receipts. On March 22, 2008, it was reported that two masked men entered the theatre and robbed it at gunpoint. The video surveillance camera just happened to be not working that night. The police could not say for sure if both incidents were related. It was closed on January 5, 2023.

This theater has been updated over the years with new seats, new screens, and video projection. This is a leased building.

Regal Cinemas has definitely been operating this theater for at least ten years. There are two entrances to the theater property. The main entrance is from Mile Hill Drive. The other entrance is off a side street and past a Taco Bell restaurant.

I’ve been in this theater several times, but unfortunately, never got to photograph it.

Chuck1231: Not a lot happening theater-wise in the Pacific Northwest. I hadn’t commented much because there wasn’t much for me too comment about. However, I see a few people have started to add theaters I know things about so now I’ve got something comment on. ;) I’ve seen some of the pictures of closed Oklahoma drive-in theaters and I’ve been able to comment on the projection and sound equipment in some of those theaters. Thank goodness some of those brave souls who venture onto the property of closed drive-ins to get pictures.
