“Pictured is a 1984 photograph taken by Dr. Thomas Scott, professor emeritus of History and campus historian at Kennesaw State University. The photo features one of Marietta’s well-known theaters — The Strand. The Earl Smith Strand Theatre opened its doors in 1935. Just five years earlier, this same edifice served as the Najjar family’s department store, but tragically caught fire in 1930.
