Clark Theatre demolition

The Clark Theatre was opened on November 9, 1940, with 500 seats. In July 1943 it was taken over by Chakeres Theatres. The seating was later reduced to 340. It was operated by Co-Operative Theatres who closed the theatre in the mid-1950’s. It became the Ark of Mercy Church of God. It was demolished in November 2010 and the site is now a parking lot.

The November 22, 1940, issue of The Film Daily had a brief item saying that Doris Meyer and Harry Schwartz had opened their new, 500-seat Clark Theatre at Winchester, Kentucky.

Information in the heading is incorrect. The Clark Theatre was on West Broadway, not Main St.
