The Starlite Drive-In was opened prior to 1953 and was operated by A.F. Sams Jr. of Statesville Theatre Corp. It was still running in 1963.
This drive-in was located on Stateville Road (US 421 Business) just north of the US 421 intersection across from what is now Hunter Road.

This was actyally Starlite Drive-in. Checked with a family member who grew up in the area.
