Princess Theatre, Elkhorn, WI

George Minette and Percy Webster bought Elkhorn’s existing Family Theatre and in 1915 moved its equipment to another location at 9 West Walworth Street (next to the old Elkhorn Independent building) and renamed it the Princess Theatre. Before long they sold it to a Mr. Hotchkiss, who by 1922 had resold it to Dan Kelliher, Elkhorn’s foremost film showman for 46 years. Kelliher installed a pipe organ, playable manually or by player rolls switched with a remote control by the doorman in the theatre lobby.

By 1927 Kelliher branched out, and within months had possession of the Majestic Theatre in Lake Geneva, the Grand Theatre in East Troy, the Plaza Theatre in Burlington and the Pastime Theatre in Delavan. He later sold his interests and leases in these theatres to Community Theatres, Inc. of West Allis, Wisconsin.
