Astor Cinema

Located in the north Glasgow district of Springburn, on the north side of Wellfield Street. The Springburn Picture House was opened in 1920.

In April 1945 it was sold to Glasgow and West of Scotland Cinemas Ltd. In November 1947 they re-named it Astor Cinema. On 23rd April 1955, it was sold to Circuit Management Association(CMA) who were a combine of the Odeon & Gaumont chains, and soon became the Rank Organisation. It was closed on 17th November 1966 with Spencer Tracey in “Inherit the Wind”. The empty building was gutted by fire and was demolished in 1968.
