The Lyceum Bradford in June 2005

Located in the northeast Bradford district of Laisterdyke. The Lyceum Cinema was opened on 18th December 1919 with Mary Pickford in “Daddy-Long-Legs”. In 1930 it was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system. CinemaScope was installed in 1955.

The Lyceum Cinema was closed on 13th October 1962 with Yul Brynner in “Escape From Zahrain” and Richard Caldicot in “The Durrant Affair”. It was converted into a bingo club.

In March 1968 it was converted into a cabaret club, known as the Lyceum Rainbow Club, and in the 1970’s it became the Talk of Yorkshire, attracting stars such as Tom Jones. In 1980 it became the Broadway Bar, presenting cabaret and disco. By 2004 it had become the 147 Snooker Bar, and the building has been re-named Lyceum House.
