Located in the north of Hull. The Rex Cinema was opened on 3rd August 1935, and was a project of a local compand in association with County Cinemas. Their other collaboration in Hull, the Royalty Cinema opened on 17th August 1935 on Southcoats Lane, and was an exact replica design by architect Robert Cromie. The Rex Cinema had a 38 feet wide proscenium.

Both cinemas were taken over by the Associated British Cinemas(ABC) chain on 8th November 1937.

ABC closed the Rex Cinema on 24th October 1959 and it has since been demolished.
