Wayside Drive-In

The Wayside Drive-In opened on May 6, 1954, featuring the 1953 drama “The Robe” with Richard Burton, Jean Simmons, and Victor Mature. It was opened by Martin Theatres from Columbus, Georgia, with a parking ramp that held 480 cars. Located beside the drive-in was Wayside Park and Beach. The opening night movie ad also advertised an amusement park. I believed it closed in August of 1957. In looking at aerials and pictures of the area, it looks the drive-in was never demolished until the late-1960’s.

I would love to know more about this drive-in. The idea of a drive-in theatre at Panama City Beach (or on ANY beach) is awesome!
