Sea Breeze Drive-In

The Sea Breeze Drive-In opened in the early-1960’s. It closed in the early-1990’s and a seniors retirement estate (Cle du Cap) now occupies the site.

A short note on Cape Town drive-in cinemas:

Many drive-in cinemas initially ran two sessions depending on length of the main feature and the season. During winter the 1st session usually started at about 7.30pm and the 2nd session at about 9.30pm. During this season the supporting program was usually shortened.

Initially admission was charged per individual per session, and when films with no age restriction were screened, children under the age of 10 were usually admitted free. Later, admission was charged per car.
