According to a report in the Arizona Republican, J.R. Brought opened the Airdome on April 28, 1911, after moving from a previous location at 302 Washington Street. The Case Grande Dispatch said in 1929 that the building was constructed of corrugated iron and there was no roof and the seating plan consisted simply of benches and folding back chairs.

The Airdome was located on the same block as the Columbia Theatre, serving as a summertime alternative since there was no air conditioning. It was also noted that the Airdome is where Harry L. Nace started his Arizona theater empire with his partner, Jo Rickards.
