Cornell Theater

Located in the Cornell Square neighborhood of Chicago, the Cornell Square Theater opened in 1913, and sat 300. It was located on West 51st Street between Winchester and Wolcott Avenues, close to its namesake park.

The theater, later called the Cornell, closed sometime in the 50s as a movie house. It is home to a church today.

This is the beginning of a 3/30/58 article in the Chicago Tribune:

The city zoning board of appeals last week continued until 1 p.m. April 15 a public hearing on an appeal by the Ukrainian American Youth association for permission to convert a theater at 1923 W. 51st st. into a boys' club.
