Ashland Drive-In

The Ashland Drive-In Theatre opened on August 19, 1953, screening the 1953 musical “By the Light of The Silvery Moon” with Doris Day, Gordon MacRae and Leon Ames. The drive-in was opened by Wilbur and Bernice Eckhard with a car capacity of 400 cars. The drive-in was built with a CinemaScope screen tower and was advertised to be equipped to screen 3-D movies. Wilbert died in April of 1979 and the Ashland Drive-in was closed the same year. The drive-in was demolished and the property was sold in June of 1998 to Ashland County. It is now the site of the Ashland County Jail and Sheriff’s Office.
