The Camera Bioscoop opened in 1960 with 2 screens as part of the Wolff Bioscopen chain. Underneath the large Camera theatre with 740 places was the small Studio theatre in the cellar, for art movies. In 1978 the balcony was transformed into Camera 2 and 3, the studio became Camera 4.
In 1996 the theatre received a modern front extension but with the opening of the 10-screen Wolff Groningen in 2006 the Camera was closed.
In 2010 the theatre reopened as the Forum Images with 3 screens, one of the theatres on the former balconee became a multi-purpose theatre for music and plays.
In 2014 the name changed to Groninger Forum, in anticipation of the new complex opening in the city centre in 2018, which will mean the end of the cinema at this location.
