Phillipsburg Drive-In

The Drive-In sat on the SE side of the town on the NW corner of E. Santa Fe Road and E. 100 Road. The Drive-In was opened in 1952 when it was operated by Ralph R. Winship.

The Phillipsburg Drive-In was still in existence by the 1970’s. However, by the early-1990’s it had been demolished.

Today, it is private property with no trace of the drive-in left. However, the property is outlined the general shape of the drive-in with bushes and hedges which may have existed with the drive-in was still running.

The Dec. 10, 1955 Motion Picture Herald ran an article commemorating Ralph Winship’s 50 years in the theater business. In the middle was this sentence: “In 1952, with his son-in-law, D. T. ‘Bud’ Brown, … Ralph built a 300-car drive-in, in Phillipsburg, and also affiliated with other theatres in Colby and Stockton, Kansas and drive-ins in Longmont, Colorado, and McCook, Nebraska.”
