Park Drive-In

The Park Drive-In was located on the south side of the town. Sitting on the SE corner of S. 9th Street and S. Cypress Street, the drive-in was opened in 1953 when it was operated by Merle Swank. It was demolished sometime between 1986 and 1991.

Today, a large building sits on the property and there is no remains of the drive-in left save perhaps for the screen foundation.

The Feb. 6, 1954 issue of Boxoffice ran a three-page article about the Park, mostly about the efficient design of its concession / projection building. Not only did it include the owners' living quarters, the boxoffice was attached on its north side. The article featured a diagram of the layout by Mrs. Swank and several photos by Mr. Swank.
