Boxoffice, May 26, 1951: “Clarence Martin has sold the Gem, Hugo, Colo., to Sam Feinstein. Martin then went to Denver where he bought the Alpine from Larry Sandler.”

This building has most recently housed the Odom Memorial Church and uses the address of 3301 North Williams. The building suffered a serious fire on April 8, 2021. The congregation plans to rebuild and restore.

Motion Picture Herald, Feb. 27, 1954: “Ed Nesbit, owner of the Alpine, is here (in Denver) inventorying and closing the theatre, in preparation to getting the building ready for other businesses. Clarence Martin, who has been operating the house, has given up his lease.”

Here’s the scoop on the name change, from the Aug. 7, 1954 Motion Picture Herald: “Harold Cunyus, owner of the Roxy, has leased the Alpine, renamed it the Uptown, and is reopening it after he installs CinemaScope and does some other remodeling and renovating. The house has been closed for some time.”
