Motorena Drive-In

The Luv-Vue Drive-In was opened in 1951 and was operated by Irving Gilman of United Intermountain Theatres. By 1953 he had renamed it Motorena Drive-In.

In 1955 the Motorena Drive-In was operated by Gibraltar Enterprises Inc. It was still open in 1957.

In the 1969 aerial photo of the site, the drive-in was long gone, and it was also missing from a 1968 topo map. The last image I can find is a 1965 topo, which labeled the intersection Kings Corner.

Motion Picture Herald, June 14, 1952: “$9,000 is being spent modernizing the Luv-Vu, Loveland, Colo., drive-in. Name will be changed to Motorena.”

Boxoffice, Dec. 1, 1951: “LOVELAND, COLO. – Acquisition of the Luv-Vu Drive-In by the University Theatre Corp. of Boulder was announced by Richard W. Koenig. The latter, who has owned the Motorena Drive-In at Boulder for three years, negotiated the purchase from Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Martell.”
