In Ayr, on the west coast of Scotland, the Ritz Cinema opened in 1932. The 1940 Kinematograph Year Book listed the proprietor as Newton-on-Ayr Picture House Ltd. and gave a proscenium width of 26ft.
By the 1953 edition ownership had transferred to Crown Cinema (Ayr) Ltd.
The Ritz Cinema was closed in the late-1950’s. By the time I visited, in June 2003, the building was occupied by The Davis Club, a snooker and pool hall.
