Plaza Cinema

In the Newsham district of Blyth, Northumberland, the Plaza Cinema is listed in the 1940 Kinematograph Year Book, but with very basic details, suggesting it had not been open very long. The proprietor was Mrs. M. Brice.

By the 1953 edition, the Plaza Cinema was owned by Plaza Cinemas(Newsham) Ltd. That entry listed a proscenium width of 30ft.

It was still open in 1954, but had closed by 1963.

By the time I visited, in August 2008, the building was home to the New Hope Congregational Church. More recently, it has been used by the Congregation of Yahweh.
