This was downtown Seattle’s only gay porn theater in the 1970’s. The Sultan’s Lavender Cinema was opened on October 23, 1971 with “Boys Will be Boys”. By December, 1972 it was operating as Sultan Cinema. Bob Damron’s Address Book (1977 edition) lists this as Sultan’s Cinema & Books, 1313 First Avenue.

Opened as Sultan’s Lavender Cinema on October 23rd, 1971 and closed or stopped its ads in 1976. Also had an 2nd screen upstairs called the Athlete Sultan Cinema which placed its first ad on December 30th, 1972 and closed shortly after. Grand opening ads posted.

Only one screen (“The Athlete” was a short movie supporting the main feature on the program).
