This silent-era / vaudeville African-American showplace began as the Airdome Social Club. Big news came in 1913 with the addition of fans to vent the theater.
Under the regime of K.W. Talbutt, the Airdome transformed to a year-round hotspot called the New Royal Theatre. Talbutt booked live acts using the Theatre Owners Booking Agency which existed from 1907 to 1929 and booked predominately for African American operators. The New Royal Theatre was still open in 1943. It would eventually close and be demolished.
