John Drew Theater

When Guild Hall opened in 1931 the dedicated performing arts space was name the John Drew Theater after the Irish-American actor who begat the Barrymore’s and who was a summer resident.

The auditorium, done in the style of a circus tent in blue and white, contained a balcony and boxes.

The entire building underwent a several million dollar renovation with the John Drew portion completed in 2009. The renovation included the installation of a state of the art projection and sound system. Seating capacity was reduced but the circus theme, albeit modified, was retained.

The John Drew Theater hosts special screenings, some of the Hampton Film Festival entries and the Metropolitan Opera simulcasts.
