Hoyts Trocadero Theatre

Located in the inner city west Melbourne district of Footscray. The Trocadero Theatre was opened on 4th July 1914. In 1920 it was operated by the Crispe & Smith chain. It was soon taken over by Associated Theatre which became Hoyts Theatres in 1926 and it was re-named Hoyts Trocadero Theatre. It was given an Art Deco style makeover in the 1930’s.

Hoyts closed the Trocadero Theatre on 29th May 1964. It was demolished and a shopping arcade has been built on the site.

The shopping arcade is called Trocadero Arcade. The theatre was demolished in the late 1960’s, except for the back wall which is still there.
