The Liberty Theatre, located on the northwest corner of 18th Street and Collingwood, in the Castro neighborhood, was opened in May 1908 by Nasser Bros., their first theater venture. It was a two story building, with a nickelodeon theater on street level, and living quarters upstairs.

It closed on December 20, 1910, when Nassers opened their second theater, Castro Street (q.v.) nickelodeon a block and a half a way; the Castro Street, in turn, closed in 1922, giving way to today’s Castro, and the rest, as they say, is history!
