Central Theatre

The Fairbury Theatre was opened in 1932 and had 350 seats. In 1937 it was renamed Central Theatre and the seating capacity had been increased to 501. It was operated by the McCollum Theatres circuit. The Central Theatre was closed in the early-1960’s, but reopened at Christmas 1969 for a weekend showing of a double bill “Did You Hear the One About the Travelling Saleslady?” and “Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang”. The Central Theatre was destroyed by fire in 1972.
