Pine-Aire Drive-In

Opened by June 1956. Now a trailer facility for Whispering Oaks Campground.

Some ramps are still visible near the screen which is also still there.

8144 S. M 37, Baldwin, MI 49304 actually brings you right in front of where the entrance was. Screen is still intact and visible from the street.

On June 12, 1956, the Ludington Daily News, writing about the Baldwin Senior Girl Scouts, mentioned the Pine-Aire Drive-In. It didn’t show up in the Motion Picture Almanac’s drive-in list until the 1960 edition (capacity 265, owner Dorr Brown, Glenn Wallace Circ.), which spelled it Pine Aire. I believe its correct spelling requires that extra E at the end.

A closer address is 8335 M-37, Baldwin, MI.

This is the address of Baldwin Self Storage and puts it right on the property, at least for Google Maps.

A 2020 aerial photo shows the screen intact along with a few ramps. Considering that this drive-in was certainly closed by 1999 and perhaps even before 1993, the screen is in remarkably good condition at least from the overhead and Google Street photos.
