Gem Theatre

Charles T. Nickum leased this retail space creating the Gem Theatre opening December 18, 1912 on a five-year lease. It closed on June 30, 1917 with Nickum taking over Havens' Theatre (eventually renamed as the Haven Theatre).

The Gem moniker would get new life in Olean just a year later when Angelo Scinta closed the New Dreamland Theatre in June 1918 at 126 W. State Street. Nickum would relaunch at the former Dreamland Theatre on July 4, 1918 as the New Gem Theatre. The Gem Theatre would transform to the State Theatre with Warner Brothers taking on both the State Theatre and Haven Theatre in 1930.
