Located in Portlaoise, County Laois. The Daunamaise Arts Centre is a conversion of an old gaol built in 1789 during which 11 dead bodies were unearthed and had to be reburied elsewhere. The Dunamaise Arts Centre opened on 4th May 1999 with a play “I’ll Fly Away”. It holds performances, exhibitions, classes and also screens films once or sometimes twice a week in the 220-seat retractable raked auditorium. It is run by the Laois Arts Theatre Co Ltd.
