Pavilion Cinema

The Pavilion Cinema was run in tandem with the Picture Theatre, just a few yards up the road, by Tadgh Kilgannon. It was a 500-seater and was fitted with an RCA sound system. It also hosted variety shows and musical evenings which seemed to have ceased by the mid-1930’s. It re-opened in 1936 and in its final years it was run by G.P. Gaynor and was last listed in the Kine Year Book in 1945. The area has been redeveloped.

The press reports the Pavilion as “reopenin” in 1936 but no closure date. Gaynor was the nephew of Kilgannon.
