Buena Theatre

The Buena Theatre was opened on November 2, 1949 with Farley Granger in “Roseanna McCoy” & Armand Denis in “Savage Splendor”. The auditorium was built with a wood lamella roof construction, similar to a Quonset hut style, which was a metal construction. The front of the building was in a Streamline Moderne style.

Jay Burger operated the Buena Theatre from May 10, 1952 opening with “Valley of the Eagles” and “Aladdin and his Lamp”. In October, the lion star “Fearless Fagan” made a person appearance. The theatre closed on October 4, 1953 with Red Skelton in “Half a Hero” and Spencer Tracy in “The Actress”. The empty theatre becomes a holding spot for stolen liquor leading to arrests in January of 1954. The building is in retail use as a Fuller Paints store in 2019.
