The cornerstone of the Band Hall was laid October 13, 1906 and opened in 1907. The local school board acquired the property in 1920 for commencement, rallies, and other live events. It decided to offset the cost of purchase as a subleased movie theatre which became known as the Lyric Theatre. The theatre operated from 1920 to 1948. The theatre has since been converted to a mini-storage facility.
