Ferri's Casino

Ferri’s Casino was a restaurant-tavern that housed a fully functional movie theatre in a rear hall. It existed from at least 1926 until 1941, when the Ferri family moved the location of their theatre to the second floor of their commercial block on Atwood Avenue at Plainfield Street in this Thornton section of Johnston. That new location would be called the Johnston Theatre. Ferri’s Casino would remain open for food and drink and night-club attractions, but the theatre that was there would be closed. Ferri’s Casino was issued a report in the 1941 MGM theatre survey.

Since Ferri’s Casino was listed for films for a September 1926 Paramount week in RI, it clearly was first opened that year or before.
