Ormonde Cinema

Located in Cobh, County Cork. Opened as the Tower Cinema, it was in business by 1945. It originally had a Simplex sound system but by the time it had been renamed Ormonde Cinema in the early-1950’s it had a GB-Kalee system installed. It was another of James J. Kavanagh’s enterprises and lasted until 1993 when it closed with Jeff Bridges in “The Fisher King”, although it is not listed in the Kine Year Books from the late-1960’s. The only place to see a film in the town these days is at the local Community Centre where the East Cork Cinema Club has monthly screenings.
