Rex Cinema

Located in Bridgwater, Somerset. Originally a roller skating rink, then a Palais de Danse. The Arcade Cinema was opened on 25th August 1929. In the summer of 1931 it was equipped with an Edibell sound system. In 1933 it was taken over by W. Trueman Dickens.

In late-1936 it was closed for refurbishment and alterations, re-opening in December 1936 as the Rex Cinema with Paul Robson in “Sanders of the River”. It was now equipped with a Mihaly sound system. In the early-1940’s it was taken over by the Cardiff based George Rees Cinemas chain and was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system. The Rex Cinema was closed in June 1956 and was later demolished.
