Laemmle Glendale

Laemmle Theatres opened a ninth Los Angeles area location August 3, 2018, in the L Lofts, around the corner from the Alex Theatre.

Along with traditional move snacks, the all-digital theater serves wine and craft beer.

Designed by DBB Architecture and Withee Malcolm Architects, the stadium theater has five screens and 350 seats. The new four-story building includes retail at street level and 42 apartments above and underground parking.

Cassie Gratton, formerly of Playhouse 7 in Pasadena and the Claremont 5, was the opening general manager.

Greg Laemmle notes his grandfather Max and Max’s brother Kurt operated their first two theaters in Highland Park in 1938 and their uncle was Karl Laemmle, Universal Studios founder.
