In the principal port town on the Swedish island of Gotland, the Roda Kvarn (“Red Windmill”) opened in 1930. It was destroyed by fire in 1936, but re-opened in 1938.
Closed as recently as 2008, in August 2018 the the cinema space was being converted into 15 additional bedrooms for the adjoining Visby Bors hotel.
