The Bijou Theatre was a replacement for the town’s previous Bijou Theatre that had burned down (It has its own page on Cinema Treasures). Milton F. Guidry opened the new Bijou Theatre on September 11, 1940.
The Bijou Theatre operated during World War II but ran into financial issues thanks to television. The theatre went out of business in 1956. It was remodeled for the Bank of Erath which continued there into the 21st Century.
