This entertainment venue opened by H. Layton Walker opened as Walker’s Hall in 1901 with live music, dancing and both dance and music lessons. It would add a bowling alley upstairs and a phonograph store. On June 26, 1907, the New Theatre opened within the complex which was an early silent motion picture house. For a brief period, the theatre was renamed the All-States Theatre in April and May of 1914. The theatre reverted back to the New Theatre. It closed March 3, 1918 due to a fire from the upstairs bowling alley. After the 1918 fire, the venue was renovated and took on the Walker portion of the operation was renamed the Liberty Hall for music and dancing but the movie house was not reopened.
