Star Cineplex opened their second cinema in Bangladesh January 27, 2019, with all digital, 3D, Dolby-Digital Sound, and one auditorium with ATMOS sound.
According to the Daily Star, many notables from the Bengali film industry attended the opening ceremony. The names included Jay Ahsan, Shakib Khan, Tauquir Ahmed, Bipasha Hayat, Animesh Aich, and Ashna Habib Bhabna. Everyone was then treated to the movie “Aquaman".
Star Cineplex notes the seating in the three auditoriums is 263, 253, and 221.
Star Cineplex’s parent company, ShowMotion Limited, directed by Mahboob Rahman, is involved in the hospitality and communication technology industry. The Daily Star notes Mr. Rahman, born in Bangladesh, has ties to America. He attended the University of Texas where he was president of International Students Organization.
