Granada Cinema

Located in the Parkhead district of Glasgow’s East End. The Granada Cinema was opened on 26th August 1935. The exterior had a tower feature above the entrance (later removed due to water damage). Seating was provided in stalls & circle levels. The proscenium was 39ft wide and there was a large 16ft deep stage which was used for variety acts into the 1950’s. There were 3 dressing rooms and it was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system. The Granada Cinema was closed on 13th June 1971 with Robert Ryan in “Best of the Bad Men” & Don Taylor in “The Men of Sherwood Forest”.

It was converted into a Mecca bingo club which closed in August 1995. The Granada Cinema was demolished in 2001.
