The Bonita Theatre was the longest-lasting movie theatre in town. The 200-seat theatre launched in the silent era on February 12, 1912. The Bonita Theatre converted to Movietone sound on September 23, 1929. That sound system was changed on December 24, 1931 to an improved, Western Electric sound system in 1933, Lester M. Neely took on the theatre operating it to its closure in 1949.
