Alabama Theatre

The Alabama Theatre launched June 15, 1925 in the Lurie Building which once housed the city’s first hospital. The first film was Colleen Moore in “Sally”. The theatre converted to sound. Martin and Davis took on the theatre running it to May 27, 1945 when it closed with William Boyd in “False Colors”. The building was converted for retail use by the Vicky Shops in 1948.
