Located in the Ticinese district in the south of the city centre. The Teatro Carcano was opened in 1803 and spent many years as an opera house. Seating was provided for 1,500. It was rebuilt in 1913 to the plans of architect Nazareno Moretti. It was converted into the Cinema Arcadia on 8th October 1948, which was still open in 1970.

In recent years it has reverted back to its original Teatro Carcano name and is a live theatre once again, now presenting mainly plays and modern dance. It has been remodeled to the plans of architect Luigi Canonica. Seating is provided for 618 in the orchestra and 285 in the balcony.
