Colibri Lichtspiele

The Colibri Lichtspiele was opened on 18th December 1957 with the Paramount VistaVision production of “War and Peace” starring Audrey Hepburn & Henry Fonda, directed by King Vidor. It was operated by Family Colm Planie Lichtspiele GmbH. The cinema was designed to the plans of architect Hanns Liefer. The colour of the auditorium was blue and the curtain was gold. The 289-seats were located in orchestra and balcony lelvers. A CinemaScope screen was installed and a 4-channel stereophonic sound system was by Klangfilm.

In the 1970’s the cinema was twinned. Later in the 1980’s it was again a single screen, operating with a reduced capacity of 144 seats. The Colibri Lichtspiele was closed on 15th May 2002.

In 2003 it became a discotheque named Club Cine Colibri. In 2008 the building was demolished and a new building on the site contains stores, offices and apartments.
