Saw quite a few movies here over the years. Just a mile or so south of the Quo Vadis Theater on Wayne Road. I am an office manager for Wade Shows, one of the largest traveling carnivals in the country, and we set up in that area just about every year through 2013 each Spring (until gangs ruined it and Westland stopped allowing carnivals). We set up at the Showcase the Spring of 2008, wrapped around the back and south end of the building. From the looks of it, MJR retained the roadside sign and used it for their sign.

The theater has since been demolished and a much larger theater is currently being built on the site.

@Kermit73, I understand. That was my mistake. I spoke with the maintenance man not too long ago and the large objects I saw lifted to and from the roof were air conditioners, not projectors. I have bad vision and saw all of this happening from down the road. My appologies for false information.

Yes, the theater is closed but the projectors have not been removed from the theater. For the most part the everything is still in place on the inside of the building.

Theater is completely closed and boarded up. I watched the projectors get removed and I doubt it’ll ever open again.

You all suck showcase rocks. Yeah that one guy who doesn’t understand how to spell or buy tickets online. just go buy “gift certificates”, also who cares. If the line isn’t long why do you need two ticket boths… for variety? Yeah and I’ve never been to a theater in which gives away popcorn. So quit boo-hooin or stay home. What, “games” buy popcorn, soda, candy, and whatever, sit down, shut up, and watch the show.

by the way I’m glad they’re never jam packed I get whatever seat I want and the people are friendly. Plus the arcade games are cool.

sincerly,

dude who smoked all of your reviews.

When your weekday attendance is so low, why have 10 employees getting paid to stand around? As for the online tickets thing, the way the tickets are retrieved at the theater is by checking the credit card to the list. If you don’t have the credit card, you can’t retrieve the tickets. They’re not gonna give tickets to someone who doesn’t have the card anymore than they’re gonna let someone in to see a movie without a ticket.

I never heard of a multi-plex with one cashier and one concession, I would not go there either.

Showcase Cinema has the worst customer service provided in the theater industry. I purchased tickets online through them as a gift for my girlfriend and her 5 yr. old daughter and when they took the receipt to the theater the manager informed them they needed my fredit card to verify the purchase. My girlfried called me in front of the manager to get the card info. and management refused to speak to me, meanwhile the movie was starting in 5 minutes and they lost out on seeing the show. I had to physically go to the theater myself to get a refund on the tickets, ahich still hasn’t been credited to my account, and my girlfriend and her daughter still haven’t seen the show. I will never go to that theater again nor will any family member ar friends of mine. Prepurchasing your tickets really isn’t any quicker, but truly more of a hassle. Kenneth Heberling, Westland.

May I say they have the worst management there. 2 People working, 1 ticket booth, one concession stand, all the time. You get the worst service. I asked for a refill on my popcorn not knowing that they didn’t have refills, and they played games. Worst ever..
