Throughout the 1920’s before the Ritz Theatre came upon and opened its doors in 1927, the city of Centreville previously used to have 2 other theatres such as one popular silent-era theatre in the area, known for the Frances Theatre (1924-1932) and the short-lived Centreville Theatre (in which operated for almost a single year during 1922 and 1923).
On the afternoon hours of February 23rd, 1945, the Ritz Theatre was destroyed by a fire. Mr. Garnett Stancil who operated the theatre at the time remodeled and reopened the theatre months later on July 4, 1945. CinemaScope was installed at the Ritz Theatre in August 1956. The closing date is unknown at this time, but it was still in operation in 1963.
