The first theatre to open in the city of Grove Hill was the Belvedere Theatre, which was popular in the 1920’s and into the very early-1930’s. The Belvedere Theatre opened its doors in June 1920 and closed in 1932. In March of 1935, the theatre ended up converting into business offices. Later on, the nearby Capitol Theatre opened its doors (later the Grove Hill Theatre).
