Europa 70 Filmtheater

In 1922 the Goldene Kugel ballroom was converted into the Europa Lichtspiele. In 1934 it was operated by Otto Haufe. It survived World War II without any damage.

In 1945 the cinema was operated by Sovexportfilm. In 1949 the VEB Filmtheater Chemnitz took over the operation. In 1960 a CinemaScope screen was installed. In 1970 the cinema was renovated and a Pyrcon UP universal projector for 35mm & 70mm was added. At the same time the cinema was re-named Europa 70 Filmtheater. In 1992 it was taken over by the Ufa Theater AG Heinz Riech chain and a second screen was added.

The Europa 70 Filmtheater was closed in 1998 and later the auditorium was demolished.
