Regent Theatre 78 Dee Street, Invercargill

Photo - Old Invercargill web site.

The magnificent auditorium of the Regent which featured a substantial CinemaScope screen. Located beside the Grand Hotel. The Regent Theatre possibly dated from the 1920’s. By 1946 it was part of the Kerridge-Odeon chain and J.C. Williamson Picture Corp. Ltd. It was still open in 1969. The auditorium was demolished in 2000. The front of the building remains in tact.
